Do you pray?
Pray for something to happen or not , maybe without your head bowed in front of God. But , do you??

My brother says he doesn't believe in a separate entity called GOD , but I know how hard he was praying when he really wanted to pass that exam.
As kids usually feel , a kid used to feel that praying to only one GOD would make the others feel bad just like she felt when her teacher didn't praise her.
Some feel that one should pray so as to prove that they too belong to the society, the same society which is multiracial , multi religion, multilingual & yet a single entity.

I read somewhere today " it was not GOD who made man , but man who made GOD"

If man made God ,then why can't we call him whenever we wish to , to come & solve whatever miserable problem that we are so stuck in. & If there really is/are a God/s where is he/they when the world needs them the most??

Are we all clusters of atoms & molecules destined to become dust one day & then fade away, If so then why do the doings of others hurt us so? But the hurt of others fails to touch us , us who are a part of this race , the race among equals , the race amongst divided and the race within ourselves.

Is it God's fault if something bad happens to us , is it your fault if I die tonight?

Only questions to which there are seldom answers , & then the girl says " Maybe God needs rest today , He/ She can be tired too"
I say " How can God be tired , isn't thou supposed to be after all, ALMIGHTY??"
the girl said "Hey would you not want to sleep awhile if everyone came & told all their sorrows to you and wanted you to sort 'em out? Maybe thou wants you to face the world , to learn , to fall and then realise it's not easy being God, not easy after all to be the human , the one who created God"

In one quiz competition, there was this question "What according to Nobel laurate S. Chandrasekhar man's greatest discovery?"...people said, wheel, stone. fire etc
The correct answer was God.
After trying phases of atheist, agnostic, I realised that everytime in distress I did pray.
And I do believe being a God fearing person checks a lot of misdeeds in a person. Its like, what if someone does this to me too, someday?

Hey..... Over last few days I have visited few blogs and surprisingly it seems that everyone has become philosopher..... Not that I'm against it.... I'm always told that I am the preachy kind.... but suddenly everyone seems to question the existence of God..... :)

You are true that God is man's creation... Go through the History and if you can read between the lines you'll see through many attempts.... A concept which was necessary in the beginning to survive was twisted and tweaked more than once for the dominance by the same man.. :)

So does God exists? Who knows... and why one should believe that he has enough time to look into the welfare of all of us. He may have much bigger things to handle but one thing is sure that the word offers 'Hope' to many and that one little ray of hope worth billions....

Again I'm clueless on what I wrote and again Sorry for the long comment.... Waise nice post Gal

Nice post Amu! (Can I call you that?) Yeah, very true! Usually, we seem to remember God in times of crisis...may be because we need that someone-will-take-care feeling. But, it's really our own call, whether we want to believe in the existence of God or not. It's perfectly fine both ways, I think! :)

I am not the religious type...and I do not visit places of worship on my own (unless I have to avoid some emotional drama by my mom)...But I do pray in my own way!

I don't know if God exists or not....
I don't know if God is a HE or a SHE...
I don't know if God is in one form or many...
And frankly, its none of my business! :)

Each one of us are born in a faith, about which we have no clue till we are doctrined about it!

If you ask me, I think kids are installed with this entity called God in their childhood just to imbibe in them the fact that there is some supreme power which is impossible to overcome/overpower! What this basically does is that it makes the child "fear" about something that may happen if it does a "bad" deed!

Finally, its all about perception!! In my case, though I can't believe for sure, I don't disbelieve! :)

//If man made God ,then why can't we call him whenever we wish to , to come & solve

Well its because man didn't make god. Just made-up god.

Wise men of the previous centuries created the concept of God.. so as to make man fearful of something in this world..Ever seen old britishers wearing hats? that was just to make them realize every moment that there is someone above them also.. so its a very confusing subject.. and the debate can go on n on n on

Hmm yes i pray... not with head bowed and al.. but yea.. i do pray for something to happen... for india to win a match, for the traffic to move a bit faster, for the rains to stop so that i can go shopping... yes.. i do pray like hell..
apart from these i also pray if my sis is unwell and has an exam cming up...
hmmm and..whtever be the reason and orgin of god, if tht belief gives u ne solace, then whats the harm in sticking to it..
maybe one day science will unravel all the mysteries of nature, and we mite not need the beacon of god to come thru tough times...
but till then, if you need to give some unexplainable things off to his ways.. like why did nt i get the results for so and so a thing even though i slogged the hell out.. then go for it..
if your own virtues and strengths are enuff to pull u thru nething... then go for that.... god is not necessary...

Ps. Hope u did not mind the longgggg comment

God exists or not, the argument continues so long as man is alive irrespective of whether God is alive or not...

I do my meditation for an hour in the morning paying my respects to God. Then I don't pray to God. Maybe if something irritates me or i m impatient, i may take his name. Here I am relying on his name not on God.

Here I wud like to remind u of a dasa composition in kannada, Ninyako Ninna Hangyako which says, "I don't need u, God. I don't need to depepnd upon u, God. Only your name to take is enough for me" It says a lot.
